Check out this Built Plymouth Duster hammering the drag strip at National Trail Raceway. The Duster was a car built by Plymouth from 1970 through 1976. It is based on the Valiant model, much like the first generation Plymouth Barracuda was. It was originally designed as a semi compact sporty car with a good price to attract customers. Even though the Dodge Challenger was supposed to be the primary competition for the Ford Mustang and Chevy Camaro, the Plymouth Duster met the pony car mold much better than the challenger because of the size and engine offerings. They were offered with either a slant 6 or one of several v8 engine configurations. The biggest available was the 360 LA V8. National Trail Raceway is an NHRA member track that began life back in 1964. The complex sits on 320 acres, and back when it was built it was the fifth largest track of its kind in the united states. It plays host to a number of very popular events every year, some of them being Night of Thunder, the Mopar Nationals, Import Face-Off, and Jegs ET Series.
