The Duster was a car built by Plymouth from 1970 through 1976. It is based on the Valiant model, much like the first generation Plymouth Barracuda was. It was originally designed as a semi compact sporty car with a good price to attract customers. Even though the Dodge Challenger was supposed to be the primary competition for the Ford Mustang and Chevy Camaro, the Plymouth Duster met the pony car mold much better than the challenger because of the size and engine offerings. They were offered with either a slant 6 or one of several v8 engine configurations. The biggest available was the 360 LA V8.
