Coming into a race season as a defending champion is never an easy task for a racer. There is a target on your back from the first race of the year to the very last. All eyes on you as everyone wants to see if you can win back to back championships. For Dylan Spring that pressure was doubled as he came into the 2020 season as the 2-time defending JEGS ET Series High School champion. Dylan didn’t let any of that stop him as he clinched the 2020 High School championship.
This season the High School class moved from running on Wednesday Nights to racing on Saturdays during the JEGS ET Series and that meant even more pressure for the young man from Newark. Dylan showed no signs of slowing down from the previous season as he parked his ’72 Dart Swinger in the Winner’s Circle 3 out of 6 events this year. The high point of the season came when he clicked off 3 wins in a row.
“This season has been a lot of fun for me, especially being my final season in High School. I want to say a special thanks to my mom (Stacy), dad (Jeff), brother (Devin) and Clay Brown for all their help and support this year,” said Dylan.
Next year Dylan plans on making a run for both the Pro and Sportsman championships. He also plans on competing in some of the 2k races that National Trail Raceway will be having as he wants his name on one of the big checks.
“I got into racing because of my family. My grandpa raced back in the day, my dad is a racer and I became interested in racing when I was a kid coming to the track with him. Winning championships is something every racer wants to do but they are very hard to win. This being my 3rd track championship it means that much more to me as it was goal I set for myself at the beginning of the season,” said Spring.
Congrats to Dylan Spring the 2020 JEGS Performance ET Series High School Champion!
