This 1994 Dodge Viper RT/10 belongs to GearHeadTour host Paul Ranney's dad, Paul Ranney Sr. He bought this 94 Dodge Viper in 1997, a few years after seeing one as the pace car for the Indianapolis 500 race. This black 1994 Dodge Viper is a first generation Viper, which means it has no "real" windows, no external door handles, no "real" rear windows. It did come with air conditioning (a/c) and 1994 was the first year air was available in the Dodge Viper. Mostly, what was important to Dodge at that time, was that the care came equipped with a monster 488 cubic inch, 8 liter, V10 engine that had 400 horsepower and 480 lb-ft of torque. By 2021 standards, this car would be well behind the pack, but in 1994, that was insane power to come from a factory automobile. And remember, the 1994 Viper didn't come with the modern electronic controls that are found in most performance cars of today. No traction control, no launch control, no airbags, nothing but power and torque, enough to easily find yourself in a cornfield if you happened to point it in the wrong direction.
